Can you believe this? If we had any more dioramas to bring the Mini-Van would explode :) I managed to fit all the podium pieces, 6 of my dioramas, a garbage bag full of sawdust, our suitcases and art supplies.

This has nothing to do with the show really but on our way to indianapolis we saw a rainbow. A gid sign of things to come perhaps? Heh heh heh.

Inside the Convention Center at 9:00 AM. This is where it all started :) The booth at the right was security and volounteers headquarters. Right across from that was the Diorama Workshop. If you look up to the left, count 3 signs, then look down. That's my sign :) The entrance was at door 116 and the exit further down at 117. If you continued straight down the hall, you would enter the giant exposition area where Hasbro, the dealers and the Autographs were all held.

9:30 AM...Is this my room? where are all the tables? When we arrived we were missing 18 tables and the layout was not what was designed. Seemed there was a mixup with another room. On the other hand, my jaw dropped wide open when I entered. Did you see the size of this room? Awesome.

First thing we did was assemble all the podiums. The colums fit into the grooves on their bases and on the left you could see the stands I created to place the Biography Information for each diorama.

10:30 AM...Start Painting the podiums. A simple design that looked very elegant once painted in black. I was so happy to have the gang from Indy Knights come by and help out with te set up. Some like Kerryn, coming all the way from Australia. Now that's a Star Wars fan :)

Almost done and looking good. Poor Kerryn is the only one left to do the dirty work ;P
The podiums only took about 1 hour to dry. On the table you can see the banner I designed to place above the front entrance. Turned out really Nice.

Time to get the diorama base together.
We bought 4 sheets of plywood, Brian Hancock and Brad Weatherholt helped screw them together.

In order for the sawdust to stay on the table and not all over the carpet, We decided it would be a good idea to use duck tape on all the joints. The wood was not even, but being Mos Eisley, that would made it look more real.
Brian Hancock was the only person brave enough to voulounteer for this task. The rest of us thought we would crash right through the table :)

1:00 PM...Where are my tables and barrier ropes? Talking with someone from the convention center trying to figure things out. With all the planning, I am sure I wasn't the only room missing items. Dan Ramsey and Ryan Aubrey are the cool dudes in the yellow shirts.

You can't make Mos Eisley without Plaster and Paint :) Time to lay out our "WET" area. Here I am on the left discussing our plan of attack with Dan and the rest of the Indy Knights...Deron Price, Chad Wilson, Brad Weatherholt and I forget the last name. If you see yourself...send me an email :)
