First step...clean off the tables surface :) We decided to put chairs around the diorama so that people would not be able to get to close to the custom figures that would be populating it. With so many people expected, it would have been very hard to police everyones actions.

We sprayed tome spray adheasive to the table surface in order to limit the amount of sawdust in the air. Last thing I wanted was to cause everyone to sneeze. Hee hee. As you can see, sawdust works as a great sand substitute and is very very cheap. Like...FREE :) when you cut wood.

We spread the sawdust evenly to avoid big clumps. Once the buildings are in place we will add more sawdust to hide the joints and give it a natural look.

11:00 AM...First building in place is the Docking Bay 94. Since it was the biggest piece it was a logical choice to place all the other buildings around it.

Now where do we put the Cantina? In case you haven't noticed it is still unplastered and painted - LOL. We had little less then one hour before show time so we decided to mix the paint in with the plaster. After getting our layout of the building, Jamie and his team went to work plastering it.

The hardest part was to figure out where to place the buildings. It was also a lot of fun.

A few buildings in place, but wait, that would look better here, let's move this one also.
This is sooo confusing :)

Picking up the tables while damp was tricky...some houses were just painted minutes before the display. The good news is that by the end of the show, they would be dry enough to take home.

Now we're cooking. Is this cool or what? We were still moving buildings around as we brought in new ones from the drying area. There were so many possibilities. The fans just made so many cool creations.

Looking at the table from the Docking Bay's angle. I think this building works nice here.

Placing buildings in the center was more complicated then we imagined. How can we place it all the way there. Suddenly a picture of a pizza popped into my head ;P Why not create a makeshift pizza board and slide the building in place like a pizza into an oven? Looking good.
