WEDNESDAY MAY 23 2007 : DAY 01 SET UP

Our first view inside the Fan Hall. All our truck supplies had been placed and ready to unpack but wait... We were missing over 80 tables !!! and NO power sockets. AHHHH !!!!! The JOYS of setting up. Imagine how much stress it must be on the organisers who don't just have one area to deal with but the ENTIRE show - ugh. By the end of day we did manage to find our tables and power. Thank you Mary :) and Gen Con.

After checking to make sure all our stuff was delivered I was able to look around and to my SHOCK and SURPRISE...

I look up to see my VERY OWN Diorama Builders BANNER !!!! This was NOT expected, and as corny as this may sound, I was deeply touched that Lucasfilm (David you ROCK !!!!) would have gone to the trouble and thought of making an official banner. I wish I could have brought it home with me, but to know it resides now in the Lucasfilm Archives is even COOLER on a fan perspective don't you agree? :)

While John and I were running in a panic - ok, ok.... While I was running in a panic, Our new BEST friend, and talented Diorama Maker (he made and brought his Star Tours Diorama for display) Mark saved my life by finishing all the Station signs I had not found the time to complete back in San Francisco.
XX

Not only did Mark cut out more then 100 foamcore shapes, he had the patience to Hot Glue all the pieces together to make really cool table signs.
XX

Don't these look cool? so much so that fans were actually stealing them from the tables to bring home as souvenirs LOL. Maybe we'll spot a few on Ebay sometime in the future LOL.
XX

Speaking of stealing ;p Another really cool thing I made were Instructional Visual Guides, basically the same step by step pictures found here on site in the making of sections but without the text. Kind of like a LEGO instruction booklet. They were very helpfull and looked really cool. I can understand why they dissapeared quickly off the tables. It's funny cause when I showed these to Lucasfilm they told me... "You know Frank, these wont be here for long" :) LOL. I guess they were right.

So after placing these on the tables, we were escorted out of the hall - This year they were VERY VERY STRICT to the union rules of you HAVE to leave NOW, no staying extra time to finish up like in Indianapolis. In less then 1 day, the show was about to start... Return to CIV Menu or you can go direct to DAY TWO-FAN CLUB DAY.
