RATING

Ahhhh 300... what mixed feelings this movie brings.

First I can say it was the lonnnnnnngest and most torturous project I have ever worked on, oye yoille yoille. LOL . But all that effort and crazy hours was well worth it, finally seeing it onscreen I can say how gratefull and lucky I was to work on such a cool movie.

Many friends and co-workers here at ILM think there is no story. I can understand that somewhat. but remember, this film is intended to represent the 300 Illustrated Novel. On that level, Zach does an awesome job. Some of the images look like they fly off the comic book. The look of the film, which is part of what took so long to design last year, oh those tests and test LOL, really flies off the screen and does not induce nausea like Sky Captain did. Maybe because the look of this was intentional as opposed to how to fix some technical issues to to the filming process of the later.

What I really loved also was the use of the speed up and slow motion and how the blood was more graphic then violent gross out friday the 13th type effect. I think that the violence - yes there are many many battles - is not as frightening and that a 13-14 years old could see this no problem.

If you loved sin city (which I found ok, but not great) the you should LOVE this movie. I will surely buy the dvd when i comes out. Well worth watching the battles a few times in the comfort of your home cine :)

Well worth the price of the ticket.
