RATING

Being a HUGE fan of Pixar's work I was really looking forwards to this movie. My friend Frank (Yes another Frank :P) thought he could wait for the DVD but I insisted he come along and I would pay his ticket. I think many people had his same thoughts because the cinema was 80% empty. I was VERY surprised at this. Just before Nemo started, Frank's Coke Cup broke and emtied the entire contents onto his shirt and shorts. Not a good way to get into the movie, especially when one doesn't even want to be at the show in the first place - LOL.

Lights down and we see Knick Knack. One of Pixar's First cartoon shorts. I love this film but wait...NO...NOT PIXAR TOO !!!!! If there is one thing that REALLY bugs me is the desecration of a Classic Movie using the excuse of 2003's Political Correctness. In the original, the little Bikini Girl and Mermaid Souvenirs had a "larger" chest, 2 round clay balls that worked with her design style and most likely, how such an item would have been sculpted in a real souvenir shop. Nothing more shocking then your Star Wars Slave Leia figure. Now they have removed the round balls and have a painted on bikini on a flat torso.Hello? What is this all about? If the look was so objectionable, why had it appeared in the Original Version? I don't object that she would have a painted on bikini but at the choice of Sensoring the Original Vision. Ok, I'm off my soap box now :)

The first thing I must say about this movie is that it looks AMAZING. The colors and lifelike beauty of the ocen colors is Jaw Dropping. When we move to the dentist office, the locale looks so real though filled with amusing charicatures of human beings. The little girl with the braces is just too funny. Although gorgeous, I will admit that my friend frank was right in the sense that you could wait for it on DVD and it would look just as amazing. Unlike X-Men ar Matrix, there is no real reason to see it on a 500 foot screen. Plus being a kids film, you will avoid having 5 year olds running up and down the aisles when they loose their interest 10 minutes after the film starts. :P

The story is simple and follows the Disney Cartoon formula (Highlight to read Spoiler) Mom gets eaten along with 499 egs and only 1 - Nemo survives, Dad is scared of losing Nemo which he does, and then they have to find each other in the end, to a tearfull reunion :) I must say that Dory, Perfectly voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, really steals the show. Every scene she is in is simply SO funny. When you switch to the Dentist Office scenes, as funny as they are in their own right, you just look forwards to returning to Dory. When she speaks Whale, I was almost Peeing in my pants. LOL.

There are many memorable moments in the movie, the seagulls...Mine, mine, mine, mine LOL, Deb and her Reflection sister Flo :P, Bruce the shark, The Stingrays, the Whale, the Turtles...it's all great but not at the depth of Toy Story 2 or Monsters inc. Don't get me wrong, Finding Nemo was Excellent but I can't say my Fave of all Pixar movies.

If you don't mind screaming kids :P See it now. If you aren't in a hurry, pick up the DVD this fall. I know it will make a great holliday present :D
