RATING

Expectations of this film were the TOTAL opposite of Signs. All trailers I saw for the film looked really BORING. I did not laugh once. I kept thinking...It's all the same jokes...how lame (isn't that right Ozzy? - LOL) I did enjoy the original and Spy Who Shagged Me a lot. But it just seemed tired and unoriginal.

Then the film opened and beat all Box Office records. That didn't really surprise me. I knew it would be number one opening week. But my friends went to see it and told me it was the best of the 3 films. That they laughed A LOT. So I started getting curious. I had heard about all the star cameos and how jokes made you cry. So...I gave in ;p At least I went on Tuesday (half price night, only $7.50)

The opening is WOW brilliant!!!! I was really into it and knew of the star cameos but NOT who they were. So when they appeared on screen, I just laughed, no , LAUGHED so loud. before you could catch your breath you would laugh even more. The actors are in makeup to look like the Austin powers characters so at first you are trying to figure out who they are...is that...Oh my god it is - LOL. Hilight the following text to read it. I put it in black type because of spoilers.

When Tom Cruise takes his helmet off, the audience went wild, Gwyneth paltrow looked great and had one of the best names in Austin Powers history....Dixie....Dixie Normous - LOL. Then came Kevin Spacey as Dr. Evil. He looked like he was trying not to crack up and Mini Me was played by Danny DeVito. When he gave the finger I thought i was gonna pee in my pants.

So we're off to a great start then I must say there was a good 15-20 minutes where I did not laugh ONCE. The audience was in stiches. Especially the dude in back of me. But I didn't even chuckle. I was thinking this movie isn't that great. And like magic, right at that moment came the scene when Mini Me gets "tossed" around in a pillow case. I know it's cruel, but i though I was going to bust a gut. From then on I couldn't stop laughing...Hilight text for spoilers...When Austin makes Mini Me carry him on his shoulders, and then has to drink the apple juice to pee in the medical cup, the shadows on the curtain - LOL, when Austin gave birth to mini Me, I TOTALLY LOST IT. I think my kaugh was the loudest in the theater :) All in all, Every scene with Mini Me is very funny. I think he really steals the show. Sure there were some so so parts in between but by the end of the movie, I had a wide enough smile to make me glad I went to see it.

When we left the theater, we kept remembering all the scenes that made us laugh, it's at this point I realised, I really did enjoy this movie. It isn't perfect but man, you WILL laugh. and sometimes laugh HARD. If you liked the first 2 Austin powers films, I guaranty you will like this one also. I will definetally buy this when it comes out on DVD. And I bet you it will be announced shortly for Christmas release.
