| Let's start by saying I have
not read any of the books. I did not go see the first Potter
movie in theaters. I was scared it was too juvenile and for
kids. Well when I watched Sorcerers Stone on DVD I was pleasantly
surprised. My friend Chantal didn't have to twist my arm too
much to go see Chamber of Secrets :D
We decided to go to the noon showing to avoid big lines.
The theater was packed with kids (it's a kids movie even though
I think pretty scarry for little ones-the father behind us
had to keep telling his son it was just a movie and fake)
and I quickly remembered why I like to watch DVD's in the
quiet of my home - hee hee. I did laugh though when 15 minutes
into the movie, the kid behind me started jumping up and down,
his father yelled "SIT DOWN" to which the son replied
"But it's soooo long" and there were only about
2 1/2 hours left LOL.
From the start this was so much more fun then the horrors
of James Bond :P There is so much originality in the story
it's cool to see the authors imagination come to life like
the baby plants, Phoenix, healing teardrops. The look of the
movie is very nice and all the fx are above excellent quality.
It was hard for me to tell the difference with what was 3D
and what was live on set. Well apart from the Elf. I had heard
many say it was the Potter Jar Jar :P Well rest assured that
he doesn't SOUND as annoying as Jar Jar but you can see where
the comparisons would come from. Chantal does tell me that
Elf's action in the film are the same in the book.
One thing that I noticed was the complexity of the plot.
It's pretty complicated for a 38 year old to understand :D
let alone a 10 year old. Many scenes were very creepy. If
you HATE spiders, I suggest you skip this film or avoid eating
popcorn. Speaking of eating. There is one scene in the movie
for all you FEAR FACTOR fans :P Even though the slugs are
coming OUT insted of going IN, I though it was the grosest
thing I've seen in a movie this year :D I loved it - LOL.
In the end I was very happy to have seen it. I think it's
a better story and better film then the first. It actually
reminded me of one of my favourite films as a teenager Steven
Spielberg's YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES. If there are any of you
older folks reading this, you might know what I am talking
about - hee hee.
So if you have been putting off seing Harry Potter, wait
no more. It really is worth the cost of admission and I can't
wait till June when I can watch it again on DVD :)
