| The man who started it all is
back in force. I know this isn't a kids movie, and I don't
encourage 8 year olds to go see it, but if you are a teenager
and love films like Resident Evil and 28 days, then you will
truly enjoy Land of the Dead.
The fourth in his series, Romero continues well where Day
of the Dead ended. After a few decades of walking around the
planet, the zombies have started to remember what they actually
did before they were dead and start to use tools and such
to help them gain access to the main city where they have
been prevented from living all these years.
Similar to Resident Evil 2, an area of the city that is surrounded
by water, has been baracaded and the remaining population
live inside a giant megamall hi rize as if nothing ever hapened.
Dining and shopping, strolling the mezanine not knowing that
the zombies are headed their way.
We know that the main reason to go see films like this are
1) to get a good scare - I admit... I jumped out of my seat
at least a good dozen times. and 2) to see zombies get chopped,
blown up and decapitated. On this Romero does not dissapoint.
I am glad that the use of 3D is very limited and that gory
makeup is used at it's artform peak. There's some really gross
stuff in here that you can't help but smile and turn away
at the same time :)
If you have never seen Night of the Living dead, Dawn of
the dead and Day of the dead, why not do a dvd marathon and
then catch thi at the cinema. I guarantee you will not be
dissapointed. and fans of the originals, will get a kick when
they recognise a certain make up genious in a cameo near the
end of the picture :P Very cool.
