The week before this film came out, I invited my friend Lucie
to come over and watch the first one on DVD. I've seen it
11 times now and really enjoy it. the design, the actors,
the fx, it's really a great videogame film, well horror genre
film. How can you not love the inventiveness of that Laser
Room :D So the stage was set to bring Lucie along with me
to see Resident Evil 2. She was as eager as I was to see it
and we really enjoyed this movie.
The cinema was packed, no surprise for opening night. What
I liked a lot was that it picks up right where the first ended.
So in a sense if you watch both when this comes out on DVD,
it will seem like one big movie. The design and feel though
are much different then the first since most of the action
takes place in racoon City as opposed to the inside corridors
of the Hive in Evil 1. I also like that they finally placed
characters from the actual games. Jovovich is cool as Alice,
but there was NO Alice in the games. This time, we get Jill
Valentine and Nemesis. Odd enough, he is completly man in
suit, which is a nice change from too much CG.
The main story focuses on our heroes attempt to escape Racoon
City after being barricaded inside with all the Zonbies running
all over the place. A high end scientist offers to open the
passage to them if they rescue his daughter who is somewhere
hiding in School. Do I need to mention classes have been terminated
:P - LOL. Oh yeah, did I mention Nemesis is on their tail
trying to kill the S>T>A>R>S team members? :)
not to mention much improved animated Lickers. It all makes
for a fun ride.
If you liked the first film, I would say this sequel will
be worth your while. I know I can't wait to buy it on DVD
later this year. WooHoo :D
