| Boy the summer season is really
starting earlier and earlier. Used to be when movies were
poor and would get clobered by the stronger box office champs,
they would release them before May. I guess that's why The
Time Machine came out now :) Hmmm Star wars, Spiderman or
Time Machine - LOL. I grew up with the original 1960's version,
a classic in itself. I really enjoy it and have it in my DVD
collection. So I was excited to see this version.Maybe that's
why I was let down.
I kept comparing the 2 throughout the film. They changed
some elements in the new one that were cool. Like the Morlocks
falling into quicksand pits. I kept thinking of Mad Max Thunderdome
when all the children surrounded Guy Pearce as he talked about
his travels.
As usual the ILM effects are jaw dropping gorgeous. The evolution
of landscape is amazing. There is also a shot of them looking
to the sky and seeing the moon in chunks falling towards the
earth.
The movie isn't a complete dud but if you are short on cash,
WAIT for the DVD. I wish I had.
