RATING

If there is one thing I really enjoy in the summer movie season is the energy of the croud on opening night. Yes it's a bit of a pain to have to get to the theater 2 hours before showtime to get tickets before they get sold out, but that is part of the fun of it. The audience was all excited as we counted down the minutes till the movie started. Just like old times I remember going to see Empire Strikes Back, Star Trek II, Poltergeist to name a few.

The lights dimed and I laughed as the audience booed the preview of Catwoman. I don't know about you guys, but this movie seems perfect for the litter box. Am I the only one who HATES that costume? bring back Michelle please. Day after tomorrow preview looked cool though. I ca't wait to check that out .

Ok, finally Troy starts. As a fan of Gladiator, I was really wanted to like Troy. Somehow it just fell flat. Is it because it was too long? almost 3 hours? I'm not quite sure. Let me try and divide the positive and the cons.

The COOL stuff....

Brad pitt's fighting scenes. The first time we see him fight that giant WWF wannabe - WHAM!!! - one strike - very cool and gross at the same time if I do say so.

Great looking Army and Fleet wide shots. A lot of work went into these comps. Nice camera moves.

Army battles are very cool and kick but even if VERY gory and discusting.

now for the BAD...

Brad Pitt always naked - LOL - Sure he looks hot but enough - I thought I was watching a Calvin Klein Ad.

Unlike Lord of the Rings - Human VS Orcs - here all look the same - impossible to tell who is fighting who. Because of this, we really don't care who lives or dies. Plus we've seen it all in Lord of the Rings and better.

The Hulk himself...Braga as the Hero...I just think he's' ugly to look at. Especially on a 300 foot screen LOL. He ain't no Russell Crowe in Gladiator that is for sure. My friends Lucie and Claudine agree he is ugly too - LOL.

The music is WAY too much a copy of Gladiator. Half way, the 3 of us were joking and sining along ...ah haain einn ahhh einn ahhhh eee ahhh hennnah ayeeeee ahhh LOL. Not too original and becomes a joke we hear it so many times.

Peter O'Tooles Frightfull Austin Powers teeth. He has money - go see a dentist - LOL.

One more baby close up and I am gonna barf. This is supposed to make us feel sympathy for the hero?

Movie is TOO long. I remember looking at my watch and thinking - oh god - there's still 1 hour left.

So in the end, I guess you can see the bad ouweigh the good. Which is too bad. The entire cast was just all too pretty. All 3 of us were bored and wishing the film would end. When you're watching Lord of the Rings, you feel - wow - has it been 3 hours already? seems like 45 minutes. Here it felt like 5 hours after 90 minutes.

For 13 bucks, wait for the DVD aor even better, Watch Gladiator instead.
