| THE MOVIE | THE MOVIE | |
|
There are certain movies that have great visual effects stuff that audiences have never seen before. They are purely visual movies and have really nothing else going for them. The Matrix is definitely not one of them. Not only does The Matrix capture the audiences imagination, it has a unique and exciting plot. The Matrix brings up the notion that the world we live in is not real. It is a computer simulation and Neo (Keanu Reeves) is the only one that can show mankind the truth. What follows is a compelling story and a thrilling visual experience never seen before. I can still remember seeing this film opening day and being totally blown away. I had no idea how they did most of the stunts, they were just so amazing. I'm sure I saw it a few more times in the theater (something I rarely do) and its my favorite DVD to watch. It doesn't
matter what kind of movies you are into, The Matrix is one of
those movies you just have to see. Even if you don't like sci-fi,
I can assure you the special effects will impress even the most
uninterested viewer. If you own a DVD player, and you're not
sure what to buy, then look no further. A must own! |

| SPECIAL FEATURES | SPECIAL FEATURES | |
| The Matrix is such a great movie that it doesn't
actually need any special features, but several are including
anyways. The commentary isn't the best ever, but it is interesting,
and its very funny to hear the special effects supervisor John
Gaeta joke that he hates movies and that his special effects
suck. I really wish the Wachowski brothers could've done the
commentary, but this will suffice. The Behind-the-scenes documentary is the HBO First Look special, and its actually done quite well compared to some of the other HBO specials. There are also nine special effects mini-documentaries, that can be cued when you are watching the film. You can also view a segment on the Bullet Time effect (that cool thing where everything pauses and spins around) and a segment on the concept art which shows some of the pictures that can also be seen in the book The Art of The Matrix. I really don't understand why there are no trailers on this DVD, but you can still download 9 different ones at the official site ... www.whatisthematrix.com . |
