How every comic book movie should made

THE MOVIE THE MOVIE

I remember seeing this at Loews Cinema on opening day. Yes even back then I HAD to be the first in the city to see all the cool movies :)

There was a lot of buzz about this movie, new revolutionary special effects that would make you believe a man could fly. I was 14 and thought this was the best movie of the summer. And at 37 it still holds up today. Why? Because Richard Donner knows how to make a comic book movie and they had an amazing script.

So many films today rely on FX and no story. BIG mistake. This film was made for like 8 million dollars Not 100 like most of todays poop. The story takes us from Krypton to Clark Kent's growing up to his move to Metropolis and helping fight crime as Superman. The pacing and acting is top notch and really brings us into the film and makes us care about the characters. Well worth seeing for sure.

Unknown to me, Did you know Superman and Superman 2 were filmed at the same time? unusual for films in the 70's. But they ran out of money and time so they concentrated on the first film and left Superman 2 75% complete.

SPECIAL FEATURES SPECIAL FEATURES
Now here you get your money's worth. The most exciting is John William's Isolated score in 5.1 digital. You get the complete soundtrack for free!

There is nothing I enjoy more in older films then having NEW documentaries made in the present with the actors and Film Crew telling us annecdotes of their experiences.
Here we get 4 making of documentaries that are beyond most dvd's offerings.

Casting: Now this is funny and scarry. I like hearing what actors almost made the film and here we get to see it. All i know is, Thank God Stockard Channing wasn't Lois Lane :)

The 3 other documentaries delve into PreProduction, Production and Special Effects. It's amazing that this movie was ever made with all the problems they had trying to get Superman to fly. Remember this in 1978!
There are sooo many interesting stories I don't want to spoil any for you. But believe me when I say you will want to watch these documentaries. Way above the average.
