JUNE 03 2001 - SUNDAY
DVD Weekend Suggestions
Released last Tuesday, it's a no brainer to choose Steven Spielberg's
1977 classic Close
Encounters Of The 3rd Kind. If you are too young to have seen this
in theaters and have never seen it, go to the video store NOW!!! :) To
read my thoughts on the movie head on over to my
Home Cinema section and click on the DVD
Reviews Icon.
Remember you can also participate in the reviews. At the bottom of each
DVD review are links to place your votes and let other readers see what
you thought of the movie as well.
Moulin Rouge - Amazing Eye Candy
WOW, After Shrek this is my second favourite movie of the summer so far.
The visuals are amazing and who new Obi Wan could actually sing! It's
a bit weird in the begining but you quickly get drawn in. I think it helps
if you are older and actually listened to 80's pop because it is very
amuzing to recognise the songs they sing, though in new arrangements.
JUNE 05 2001 - TUESDAY
Top 6 Results - Did your votes make the cut?
Did Vader's Secret remain at #1? just head on over to the Top

it might come in handy at the end of the month ;)
JUNE 06 2001 - WEDNESDAY
Character VR Wednesday
Going back in time a little for this week's VR is Death
Star Trooper. He looks like he wants to go jogging - LOL. Check him
out for yourselves and the other cool stop motion animated figures in
the Virtual Characters C:VR section.
Finally went to see Pearl Harbor
Well my co-workers finally dragged me to go see Pearl Harbor. After all
the bad reviews I had lost the desire to see this film and wanted to wait
for the dvd. Well it wasn't as painfull as I expected, though we did groan
a lot. The best part of course as if I have to say...ILM's effects for
the attack on Pearl Harbor. WOW. Simply Awesome. Ah to think I almost
worked on this film. If you aren't sure about seeing this film, go on
cheap night. The battle is a BIG screen must see.
JUNE 09 2001 - SATURDAY
Improved News Archives
I spent a good part of the morning making things easier for those of
you who wish to see what you might have missed in the past year. There
are now direct links in the News History Archives that will bring you
directly to the past updates. I think you will find it very user friendly.
Return Of The Jedi Consoles - Tease
Well you might have seen the Death
Star Consoles I made based on Episode 4. Many of you have been asking
me if I plan on making a version that appeared in Episode 6 in the Emperor's
Tower. Well YES of course - LOL. Here is a peak of the decals I made.
On monday I will show you what they look like on actual consoles .
JUNE 14 2001 - THURSDAY
No I am NOT dead - Yet! LOL
For the last 4 days I have been in bed with the flu, sleeping and eating
chicken soup until it came out my ears. NO MORE SOUP!!!! ;P
Finally yesterday I was feeling better and took advantage of my last
day home from work. Below you will see all that I have prepared for you.
With the overtime that consumed the month of May and now getting sick
begining of June I can understand why A LOT of people were asking...Where
are the Diorama updates? - LOL
Well one thing I did figure out was that I started way too many things
at the same time. Work a little on this, a little on that. You get the
feeling you haven't done anything because nothing is complete. Thus also
making gaps in the updates. So I have figured out my battle plan to get
back to what you like best about niubniub's...Dioramas Updates!
1- Finish Tantive IV, Leia's Plans Diorama
2- Sculpt the Jedi's Legs and Finish Phase 2 of Jedi Council.
3- Finish my Return Of The Jedi Death Star Consoles
4- Finish organising my BIG 1rst Anniversary Contest for June 30th
5- Start Niubniub Year 2 with a BANG - Millenium Falcon
How does that sound? If you think I am nuts let me know. On second thought
maybe you shouldn't ;)

JUNE 17, 2001 - SUNDAY
Summer Movies - saw myself a double feature :)
This weekend we saw the release of 2 possible blockbusters, so you knew
I had too go see both of them right? :) Maybe you decided to do the same.
3:00 pm - TOMB RAIDER
What can I say. Yes I played all the video games, Yes I was expecting
to see live action versions of the games cut scenes and Yes, I was hoping
this would be as cool as Raiders of the Lost Arc. Let's Just say Steven
Spielberg has nothing to worry about LOL.
Angelina is very good as Croft and her british accent is pretty impressive.
The action scenes with the bungee was my fave. The temple interior was
cool until water spurts out and makes a piece of the stone tablet float
in the spray. Yikes, soo fake. Even 1967 Sinbad is better.
The story is sometimes slow but nowhere as PooPoo as Aint It Cool News
suggests. Is it worth $12, well not really but certainly on a half ticket
Tuesday or matinee it is worth a peak.
5:30 pm - Atlantis
Every summer I go see Disney animation. No, not just because I work in
movie fx, because I am very impressed with their visuals and quality of
the animation. I must sadly say that Atlantis BORED me. I hated the drawing
style of the characters. Not one of them had me hooked. The story seemed
to take forever. This was nowhere as impressive as Aladdin or Hercules
or Mulan. Maybe it's because there were no songs in the movie. Maybe Disney
needs to take a break.
I know I won't be adding this movie to my DVD collection when it comes
out at Xmas. Do yourself a HUGE favor and go rent Titan A.E. instead.
A much better movie that better captured the use of 3D and 2D animation.
Plus Titan is a way better story. Sorry Disney but this is no Lion King.
JUNE 19, 2001 - TUESDAY
More updates Leia's Plans - almost complete :)
I am very very close to finishing this diorama. It will have some really
cool pictures when ready. A lot more then I had originally thought possible.

all the needed textures to recreate the Leia's
Plans diorama.
New Visitor pictures Added
I am way behind in this section. I am trying to catch up as quick as
I can. Today you can check out the pictures of Paul
Dye's work. His Star Wars room is really cool, he's almost as nuts
as I am - LOL.
Today I noticed that another site has premiered it's own Diorama section
and even asks for visitors to submit pictures....hmmm....I wonder where
they got that idea? :) - LOL
I just want to mention that I do not judge your work. Everyone who sends
in pictures to niubniub's gets their own section. Choosing one instead
of another to me is not a good way to motivate or encourage people into
creating their own dioramas.
You can check out Paul's as well as all the other visitors amazing dioramas
in Niubniub's Visitors Section.
Star Wars Episode 1 DVD - Finally October 16 :)
You guys know I am not a news site - I leave that to the other pro's.
But this item has got me too excited. Place that date in your calenders
and if you we're waiting for a good excuse to buy a DVD player - This
is a great one ! Check out the Official Star Wars Site for the AWESOME
details.
