Time to build our Wall Panels. I initially made the prototype with tiny little cardboard pieces to create a true emboss look. I thought many of you would not have the patience and might prefer the Decals, so...These are for you guys :)

Print out your Death Star Conference Room Wall Decals on a sticky label Sheet.

Peel back the protecive paper and apply it to a piece of Foamcore.

Now when you cut out the shape along the edges, you will have a perfect flushed Decal. It's much harder to match Decals to already cut Foamcore, so this technique gives you better results :)

OK, So we have our Main Wall cut out, the Side labels cut (I placed yellow X on the pieces that are not needed and that won't be in the final Texture Download)

You will also need to cut 2 pieces of Foamcore... 2cm Wide X 12.5cm Long. Then Sub-Divide those 2 pieces at 4.5cm from the base.

October 10, 2004

Take one of the 8cm Foamcore pieces and measure 6cm from one end.

October 10, 2004

You now need to SLICE through the THICKNESS of the Foamcore from one side to the other starting at the 6cm mark.

October 10, 2004

Here is a Front View better explaining what you need to do. If you use a NEW SHARP Blade, you should have no problem creating clean smooth cuts.

Go SLOW and you will get perfect results.

October 10, 2004

Slice the other 8cm piece as well and you will now have 2X 8cm Sliced Strips and 2X 4.5cm Strips.

You can now apply the Side Strips Decals to the Top 8cm Strips.

This will add texture but also hide the ugly styrofoam exposed from the angled slices.

October 10, 2004

Apply the rest of the decals to a CARDBOARD. DO NOT use Foamcore, that is too thick and will not look as good.

Now use your Xacto to cut out along the edges.

October 10, 2004

You now have 3 pieces, 2 in reality...

In the final NiubNiub Downlaod Textures, the 2 bottom pieces will be joined into 1 so you can fold it and eliminate the gap seen in the upcoming pics.

October 10, 2004

Assembly time, Take one of your Angled Strips, and Hot Glue it to the Top of the Wall Unit.

Make sure it is flush with the back of the Main Wall piece.

October 10, 2004

Here you see the other side of the Strip and how it looks with the Side Decal in place.

Applying the Decal BEFORE attacking with the Hot Glue gives a cleaner look to the Wall unit.

October 10, 2004

Repeat the procedure with the other Strip. make sure both are alligned with the Top and Back of the Main piece.

October 10, 2004

Remember those 2X 4.5cm pieces you ended up when cutting your strips in photo 063?

Use your Hot Glue Gun to set them in place at the bottom of the Wall Unit. Allign Flush with the Back of the Wall piece . They should fit perfectly in the slots of the Main Unit.

October 10, 2004

Here is what they should look like from the Front View.

October 10, 2004

Take your Bottom Decal section and Hot Glue it to the Bottom of the Wall unit.
