Gently press down on the door until it reaches halfway accross the archway.

Continue until you see exposed the side wall control panel (the one that is blasted to lock the door)

Your Movie Accurate Doorway is complete.

Now time for the Closet where C-3P0 and R2 are hiding from the Stormtroopers.

Cut out 3 pieces of foamcore. the first center piece being 7cm X 15.5cm and TWO wall pieces measuring 4cm X 15.5cm.

July 14, 2008

Start by using the Hot Glue gun to secure the Left wall to the Rear wall.

Allign it on TOP of the rear wall and outside edge.

July 14, 2008

Repeat the same technique for the Right wall.

July 14, 2008

You now need to build the Closet Wall pieces. ALL pieces are 15.5cm in HEIGHT. The width measurements are as follows...

#1 is 3cm (same as decal)

#2 is also 3cm (decal width) and #3 is 9cm (to fit the decal)

BUT WAIT !!!! STOP !!!

After doing this and taking the picture, I realised YOU CAN CUT ONE piece 12cm Wide and save you a slice in your decals.

#4 is also 9cm (decals width)

July 14, 2008

Apply the wall decals to the foamcore pieces. Make sure they are in this order if you want to retain movie accuracy.

July 14, 2008

Use the Hot Glue and attach pieces #1 and #2 (or #2/#3 if one piece) to the closet walls.

July 14, 2008

I had to Hot Glue #3 to #2 since I had made them as TWO pieces, but you should have both pieces as ONE to save a step and make the wall look better.

July 14, 2008

You now need to cut out 2 more half wall decal strips.

July 14, 2008

Peel back and apply them to the INSIDE of the closet walls.

Make sure to allign the inside edge with the main fron wall panels. You want to avoid seeing a big black gap on the corner seam.

July 14, 2008

Repeat the same procedure for the other side of the closet.

July 14, 2008

Now cut out the closet door decals. If you were to make the doors open, you would have to cut down the center of the decal.

I chose to leave it as one piece.

July 14, 2008

Wrap the decals around a cardboard tube. You can see instructions for this in the Death Star Hallways instructions.

July 14, 2008

Now the Closet door doesn't stick out properly on its own so we need to add 4 layers of scrap foamcore to elevate the door at he correct level.

July 14, 2008

Here you can see what the closet door looks like when glued to the 4th layer of foamcore scraps.

The foamcore layers are hidden behind the door where the Yellow arrow is pointing.
