The main design is to have it fit around the new Trash Compactor Diorama 2 packs. If you just bought these sets and want a bit more impact then just the cardboard backgrounds, then follow these easy steps.

Oh and that circle on the right wall, that is the Garbage Chute that will eventually connect to the Deluxe Leia Cell Block.

Start by cutting a 7.5 inch X 8 inch piece of Foamcore. This is our floor base.

January 12, 2003

For the walls I wanted the height of 2 Death Star floors.

This comes to 13 inches. Measure two piece 7 inches wide and one 8 inches wide.

January 12, 2003

I used my Hot Glue Gun to secure the 8 inch X 13 inch Back Wall to the Floor Base.

January 12, 2003

Next step was to glue the 7 inch X 13 inch side panels. Using the Hot Glue Gun, I secured one side at a time.

Do not apply the Glue to both pieces.

By the time one piece is secured, the Glue on the other has already hardened and now you have a big mess.

Here is our main box frame.

Can't get any more simple then this :D

Our figures now wait for the detailed Strips on the wall.

Once in place you will really see the Diorama come to life.

Since my plan is to have interactive sections, it's time to make a hole for the Detention Area Garbage Chute.

Measurments are from the bottom is 19cm (Green Arrow). From the top: 10cm (Yellow Arrow). On each side of the Hole is 6cm (Blue Arrows) and the Height of the hole: 4cm (Red Arrow)

Since this is a Deluxe Trash Compactor, Let's make it movie Accurate right? :)

Start with some Cardboard Posterboard and start Cutting Strips.

We need 52X 33cm by 1cm Panels. (I colored two in yellow so you can see where they fit in the next picture.)

January 19, 2003

For the top of the Doorway the Strips are shorter: 5X 18.5cm by 1cm wide.

These short strips are tinted Blue in the next picture.

Instead of a Hot Glue Gun, use Gluestick to attach the Strips to the Foamcore.

This will allow you to place the Strips in position and still slip and slide them into their Final resting place.

Besides, the Hot Glue hardens too quickly and causes bumps under the cardboard. In other words, a big mess :)

January 19, 2003

For the Garbage Chute Wall we need to cut the strips to fit Above and Below the Hole.

I color coded 2 of the pieces so you can see where they fit in the Diorama.

The Green pieces are 10cm long and the Blues are 19cm long. The width, 1cm, is the same on all pieces.

January 19, 2003

Use your Gluestick to attach the strips to the Foamcore.

On either side of the color coded strips are the Regular 33cm Strips.

If some of the pieces stick out slightly in the Chute Hole, don't worry, you can always trim them later once the glue is dry.

January 19, 2003

On the Right Wall we need only the 33cm Strips.

I thought you didn't need color coding for those :P

Make sure when you glue your Strips in place, to leave a small GAP between each piece in order to augment the Look of the Movie set.

Let the glue dry and start cutting Foamcore Strips.

Do you want to make your own Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama at home?
These sections are also available to help with this creation.
