Here is another TRICK photo :) I cloned the pieces in photoshop to get an idea of the size this Diorama will have.

If you use your imagination and don't focus on the background shelves you can really get a feel of the actual finished diorama. Can't you just see how cool it will be ? :D

Now that the Beam patern is complete, it's time to move on to the Final Wall Template...

February 22, 2003

The Walls in the Movie set are comprised of 3 Long Panels with the same Angled Joints as the wall behind the Beam Colums.

To start the Wall, I cut mt Toilet Paper Roll to 5.5cm width and then used the Xacto knife to slice the Roll in half.

February 22, 2003

Try and get as close as you can to Two equal halves.

February 22, 2003

Now each half must be again cut into Two equal parts. Take your Xacto knife and slice it down the middle.

This is Very easy if you have a NEW blade.

February 22, 2003

And here are our 4 equal parts. Now just repeat this step 3 more times :D

We need 12 quarters to create ONE Wall unit.

If you are not making a celing, you only need 6.

February 22, 2003

Here are all the cutout foamcore pieces needed for ONE wall unit.

Left are the spine supports for the angles (You see 3 but they are stacked 2 high) The 3 long pieces are the wall centers. To the right are the 6 blue neon "Feet" The toilet paper roll quarters, and to their left, 6 angled bases.

Last but not least, at the bottom of the picture are the 4 divisions that get sandwiched between each wall section.

*** IMPORTANT ***

The dividers are NOT foamcore but cardboard stock.

February 22, 2003

Let's start at the bases. I take a "spine" and use some hot Glue to attach the Neon foot piece.

February 22, 2003

I then took one of the bases and cut a 45 degree angle on the end.

DO NOT CUT BOTH ENDS.

We only need ONE angle cut. this will help us get a smoother joint for the decals later on.

February 22, 2003

Place the base onto the "spine" and align it with the Neon Base. Then use your Hot Glue Gun to attach all 3 pieces together.

February 22, 2003

The angled cut allows the fomcore pieces to meet very close at the front.

If there is s slight gap, that is ok, you will be hiding it with the decals.

Now repeat this step 5 more times :D

February 22, 2003

A couple of minutes later I have all 6 assembled bases. 3 for the bottom and 3 for the top.

Of course if you aren't extending your diorama all the way to the ceiling, you only need 3.

February 22, 2003

Now on the top end I use my Xacto blade to cut a small slit just underneath the paper layer. You don't need to go too deep. Half cm is just fine.

February 22, 2003

Take one of your toilet paper Roll Quarters and gently slide it into the slit. Don't be too rough, you don't want to tear the foamcore.

February 22, 2003

Now flip the base upside down and put some Hot Glue on the inside of the roll at the foamcore slit. This will prevent the roll from popping out.

I took this picture before puttting the glue, that's why you can't see it :P

See the shadow to the right of the foamcore?

That's where you need to put the glue.

February 22, 2003

Now I used the same "slit" technique on all 3 Wall Center pieces.

For these, we slit BOTH sides. Just make sure that the TOP is the same on both ends.
