When you get to row 3, it's easier to start with
the ends so that the Wall will be aligned and not
all crooked.
You want the Neon Base to touch the floor evenly.
At least as even as possible. |

February 22, 2003
Secure the end pices with Hot Glue and then place
the Center Wall on top of Section 2.
Always keep a Groove, but i have a feeling you knew
that already :D |

|
February 22, 2003
Last but not least we place our last Cardboard Divider
on top of Layer 3.
Use the Hot Glue gun to secure it in place and your
Wall Unit is Assembled. A bit time consuming but looks
cool right?
Now you can rest and go print out some Decals from
Niubniub's Download Section. |
|
 |
 |
|
February 22, 2003
Here are the 7 sheets you will need to decorate the
Wall.
They will soon be placed in the Downloads with the
other FREE decals. |
|
 |
 |
|
February 22, 2003
Carefully cut out all the paterns using scissors
or a Sharp Xacto Knife.
Just be VERY carefull, You don't want to loose a
finger - Yuk - LOL. |

 |
|
February 22, 2003
Like I did for the Beams, I took out my Grey Latex
paint and painted over all joints including covering
all exposed Carboard Dividers. This will give us a
much cleaner Wall where the decals don't meet.
Of course one can always use Black Foamcore and avoid
this process alltogether. |
|

 |
|
February 22, 2003
And 30 minutes later... Tada... Not bad eh? Of course
you have to tilt your head a little :P
Again the cool thing about these decals is that you
will have 3 variations for each section.
So your imagination will create your own unique Death
Star Hangar :D |

 |
|
February 22, 2003
Now that you have a Wall Unit AND a BEAM, it's time
to join them together.
As you can see I have some more Green arrows. Anyone
care to guess what this means? :D Yes, Keep a Groove
between the Beam Back Wall (foamcore) and the Wall
Unit Cardboard Divider. |
|
 |
 |
|
February 22, 2003
When you are happy with the positioning, Use Hot
Glue to attach the 2 Units together.
The Red arrows are where all the Hot Glue is applied.
Don't be shy, use lots of big blobs :D |

February 22, 2003
And after 3 days work, I have ONE assembled Section.
Now here is where your decision will come into play.
Once you decide the Height you want, decide the Width
of your display and then calculate the number of Sections
you need to make.
|
|
 |
I think for
mine, I will go with 4 on each side and try to incorporate
a mirror to give the illusion of 8. But I am not there yet,
so disaster may yet to strike. I guess we will discover
what works and doesn't together :) |
 |
February 22, 2003
Here is my first section leaning against one Diorama
wall to show you the scale. The shuttle is a couple
of feet closer to the camera, so it looks taller then
it actually will be in the final scene. |

February 22, 2003
Here is a good look at what we just made with all
the Decals in place. I used FULL SHEET LABELS so that
I would just have to Peel and Stick without using
Gluestick.
If you prefer Glossy Walls, you can print on Photo
Paper or Photo Film. Of course I can always decide
later on to place a layer of transparent film |
|
 |
over the Decals to give it a glossy look. Only time will
tell :) Oh and look at the floor, Using Glossy Cardboard
really brings out the reflections like on the Movie Set.
|
 |
February 22, 2003
Here is a close up of the Toilet paper Roll Effect.
We could have just had joining angles like at the
Feet, but doesn't this look cool? and of course exactly
the same as on the set. |
|
 |
 |
February 22, 2003
Here again is the Movie Still I used as a reference
for my Templates.
Pretty close don't you think? I can't wait to see
it with all my imperial figures in place. Woo Hoo
:D |
|
 |
 |
February 22, 2003
And to give us an idea of what the wall looks like
with other sections, I took out my first Beam prototype
and placed it on the right of the Wall unit.
If you stare long enough until the picture starts
to multiply, it almost looks like the Movie Set -
LOL. |
|

 |
March 22, 2003
Here you can see 7 hours worth of cutting Foamcore.
Over 200 pieces. Man was I ever BORED by the end of
the day - LOL.
Cutting is not a lot of fun, especially for repetitive
pieces.
All of these will be assembled into 8 Beams and Wall
Sections. |
|

A mirror is planned to double the size of the Bay. |
