Now just start cutting the other 200 Bobby Pins you
need for your Docking bay Diorama - LOL. |
|

Take your Cut Bobby Pins and stick them through the
Floor.
Make sure they don't stick out MORE then 1/8th of
an Inch. That's how deep the Holes are in the Figures
Feet. Any higher and the feet will not touch the floor
of the Diorama.
Once you have about 8 or 10 in place it's time keep
them in place. |
|
 |
After all, we
don't want them to slide back into their holes when the
figure is placed on top of them. |
 |
|
June 29, 2003
Using your Hot Glue Gun, Squirt a Generous amount
all over the Top of the Bobby Pin Head.
The glue will slide all the way down and around the
Base of the Bobby Pin and once hardened, creat a strong
bond that should prevent any slippage when you place
your figures onto them. |

Ahh, isn't this a wonderfull sight? :) And it only
took 5 hours - :P
Of course you might not need this many, adjust the
number acording to the size of your own display and
the number of figures you have in your collection. |

June 30, 2003
I had Monday off from work because tomorrow (July
1) is Canada Day. So I got a nice 4 day weekend -
Woo hoo :D and also cause to celebrate was the arrival
of my Giant Custom Mirror.
Fingers was excited about the delivery as well, can't
you just tell from the expression on his face? LOL. |

Now here is a special treat...After 3 years, you
finally see what I look like without my Ewok hood
:)
The Red Arrows point to the Mirror's Edges. They
should lign up perfectly with the Diorama and fit
snuggly in Legend's Window Display. |
|
 |
 |
|
June 30, 2003
WOW, WOW, WOW. Did I say WOW yet? LOL
Can you believe this is the Same Diorama? The Mirror
is placed against the Rear Walls giving us a reflection
of the Neon Tractor Beam and Front Walls.
Of course there is no more room to walk in my basement
:P Hee hee. |
|
 |
 |
|
June 30, 2003
Here is a better view of the Right Wall. My basement
floor is not level (the carpet hides a ugly cement
floor) which is why the Docking Bay floor is not flush
and level.
When in the Legends Window, this problem should be
resolved. |
|
 |
 |
|
June 30, 2003
Still can't see the Mirror connection? I added a
little Yellow Arrow to where the Diorama ends and
the Reflection begins.
In this Top View you can see the one downside of
using a mirror... The shuttle also gets reflected
:( But it is a small price to pay for doubling the
size of the room.
|
|
 |
When you look
at it in person, you can focus on the Shuttle reflection
and elliminate the original with your peripheral vision.
Seeing it live also allows you to look around and feel
that there is NO mirror. The effect is really cool. I hope
some of you will have a chance to come to Montreal and see
it ! |

July 01, 2003
Today is Canada Day... and another day off work :D
I thought I'd take advantage and finish some little
cosmetic touches on the Diorama.
I took some Black Foamcore (thank you Chantal for
your contribution to the project - hee hee) and cut
out the same shapes used for the Foot Beams. |
|
 |
 |
July 01, 2003
At the top of the Beams we could see inside (since
there was no floor to hide it like it's duplicate
on the opposite end of the Beam) and a little bit
of an eyesore.
So I took my Grey Latex Paint and placed a small
amount along the Outer Edges. No need to paint the
entire surface. |
|
 |
 |
July 01, 2003
I then took the Triangle Shapes and inserted them
into place.
No need for glue on these pieces, they fit just
snug enough to not pop out :) |
|
 |
 |
July 01, 2003
Now time for some real fun :) In the movie, there
is a Tie Bomber hanging from the ceiling and since
Hasbro was kind enough to make that toy for us last
year, what better place to display that awesome cehicle
then the Docking bay :D
I took some paper and placed it in between the 2
Round tubes of the Tie Bomber.
|
|
 |
I cut and trimed,
and played around a little until I got the perfect shape
to fit the ship. I then traced the paper outline on a piece
of Foamcore.
I also cut out the center to give it a less blocky look
and something that would resemble construction beams. |
 |

Here is a close up of the shape.
On the bottom left is a small angle as well as a
tiny square cut on the upper right side.
If you Download and print the Decal, you will get
the aproximate dimensions. |

Here you can clearly see how the piece fits snuggly
in between the 2 Tubes. |
