Now cut 2 pieces to match the angle of the bench. Use the Hot Glue Gun to bond it to the support beam.

The dotted lines indicate the joining seam. The black arrows point at the 2 pieces that were glue in place that will act as supports for the control panel.

This better shows you how the angles all fit together. Now to fill that big hole.

November 04, 2001

I used a piece of paper to make my pattern then traced it onto cardboard. This is the shape to cut.

November 04, 2001

Take the cardboard and glue it in place with the Hot Glue gun.

I used cardboard instead of foamcore because you need the piece to fit snug in a circular angle.

This will become the control panel. Eventually Photoshop decals will be applied here to give it the final movie touch.

Now back to Super Sculpey :) Make a long snake by rolling the sculpey on a counter top.

November 04, 2001

First, I used my Hot Glue Gun to secure the foamcore back support to the main bench first. After that, I pressed the snakes in place and then used the hair dryer to harden the Super Sculpey for painting.

Make sure to wave the blow dryer back and forth to avoid the foamcore from melting.

I used my acrylic latex paints to cover the entire surface.

You can't see very well in the picture but the pillows are a lighter shade of grey.

This is what the painted bench and table look like.

The bench might still be a bit too dark. I might end up fixing that later on.

December 21, 2001

I applied my Photoshop decals on the back supports and although they are hard to see in the picture, 2 decals on the top cushions of each seat cushion as well.

December 28, 2001

To completely finish the bench I had to sculpt this light fixture out of Super Sculpy.

I decided to not place real lights into this piece because of the curves.

December 28, 2001

Once hardened in the oven, I painted it with my acrylic paints.

Looks good but I might add some glows in Photoshop to the finished diorama poses.

And the completed Island Bench in it's final resting place inside the Falcon room.
