Using the Hot Glue Gun, I attached the box to the back of the wall.

I then inserted the carboard panel on top of the box. The rough edges from the inside of the foamcore keep the panel in place.

No need to glue this piece which is good in case I want to change the wiring one day ;)

Both boxes now complete.

The ring on the main circular doorway has the same effect, though I am keeping that as a last step since I will need to glue the hallway to the main room in order to do so.

Finishing details for the ceiling is next.

I used up almost any cool shape that I could find including nails, rubber stoppers and stereo cable.

October 01, 2001

Ta-da. No need for inbetween pictures on how to glue a wire to a beam :)

I looked at my reference pictures and tried to place the wires as much as possible in the same manner as in the movie.

This is where I am so far. Slowly coming to life.

Once the hallway pillows are made and in place, I can attach the large "pipes" that droop along the walls as well as the bunkbed wall unit and of course... the infamous chess table and seats.

I will start that next week.

October 06, 2001

Now grab your finished "bunk bed" that looks just like in the movie :)

Yes I know about the paint drip :( That's ok though because there are 3 tubes that fit in the corner that should hide most of it :)

October 06, 2001

Place the box in the corner and glue into place.

You will remember I had tubes here in Photo #056 but after seeing the CD-ROM, I realised that this bunkbed is what accurately fits in the corner. Also

*** SUPER IMPORTANT ***

When placing the Chess Table and Island Bench, I realised the Bed was TOO LOW, You will need to slice off the bottom BEFORE attaching in place.

See Picture #116 on Page 8 to understand.

More details, Cut foamcore pieces and glue them together to form the shape of steel beams.

October 06, 2001

After painting, place the first beam at the top of the bunkbed. this hides the joint and looks cool.

October 06, 2001

The 3 remaining beams go at the bottom of the left wall, just in front of the lower part of the tubes.

We are pretty much done on this wall now.

October 07, 2001

NOOOO !!! This is not my breakfast - LOL.

After almost 7 hours, I finally finished and baked all the 150 "pillows" I needed for the hallway beams.

October 07, 2001

I placed all pillows on scrap strips of foamcore to make it go faster with the Hot Air Gun instead of holding 1 piece at a time. and burning my fingers :)

October 07, 2001

Time to paint...

October 07, 2001

Here the main color is applied with a paintbrush. Latex paint was used and dried in 5 minutes :)

October 07, 2001

I weathered the "pillows" to make them nicer.

Using my sea sponge, I dabbed dark brown paint and watered it down to give just a dirty grimy look like in the film.
