Ok, now we are ready to bond the hallway to the main room. But before that we must prep up the hallway.

First off I glued my pillows along the edge of the hallway making them stick out half way on the outside. Then I used my multi colored wires and wrapped them around the outer rim of the foamcore.

Use your hot glue gun to secure some of the wires in place if they wiggle too much.

Using the hot glue gun, I bonded the ceiling and walls to the floor.

Make sure to put guide marks on the floor so you know exactly where it should fit or else you could end up with a BIG mess trying to reposition it later.

Once the walls are secured, attach the hallway tube to the foamcore of the back wall.

The arrows are pointing to where the hot glue is best applied.

You want to make sure the connections are flush against the floor base or the connections will not fit.

October 14, 2001

Make sure that the wires aren't caught between the walls when pushing the 2 pieces together.

I next cut out the shape of the gap into a thin cardboard just like the 2 boxes on each side of the hallway.

This will be the cover that goes over the wires and keeps them from popping out everywhere.

Take your time here, you want clean cuts so it looks like metal.

October 14, 2001

Using dabs of hot glue, I attached the cardboard ring to the main wall.

Since the pillows were attached half extended from the hallway, the ring is now flush over the wires.

Last step is to glue a stereo cable around the pillows.

The white arrows might help you better see what I am talking about :)

Now for the tubing details.

Since the diorama is small, regular video cable is too tight and hard to bend around small corners. So I used rope.

My friend Brent thought they were wicks from oil lanterns. You could use those also as they have the same texture.

I used the hot glue gun and attached them in the exact manner they were placed in the movie set.

Once I weather them with paint and gross oily drippings they should look just like in the film :)

Ah, Looks like Han has popped in again for an inspection :)

Starting to really shape up. but something looks odd... like somethings missing...

November 04, 2001

Because the Island Couch is a little bigger then expected, I had to cut up the bunk bed area and raise it an inch or so.

This was very hard to do without destroying the entire diorama.

Take your finished Island Couch and Chess Table...

... And place it in it's resting place just below the Bunk Bed Sleeping Quarters.

Looking Good :)

November 18, 2001

Time to finish the corridors.

I started by making boxes 1 cm deep using the back pieces I had previously cut out of the Corridor Tubes.

This is where the "pipes" will go.

November 18, 2001

Using straws and Video wires I created the "pipes" you see in the exposed boxes of the corridor.

You can kind of see in the photo on the floor the pipes I used as reference.
