This gives you a better view of where my decals are
supposed to fit. Now we need to fill the last slot. |

I again took my trusty colored wires and placed them
in an interesting patern and used the Hot Glue Gun
to secure them to a piece of foamcore. |
|
 |
 |
|
December 26, 2001
I then slid the foamcore into the slot and pressed
down to make it fit just right. |
|
 |

Now we have to put in the "pipes".
Using 2 pieces of cord, I attached them to the foamcore
with my Hot Glue Gun in the same pattern as in the
movie stills.
The real pipes in the set are 3X thicker then the
horizontal pipes but since I can't find rope that
fat, this will do fine. |

Now I attach the ceiling trap door that has been
left open in the film.
I cut a small rectangle piece of foamcore and used
gluestick to adhere my photoshop decal to the front.
I cut a small piece of foam and attached that to
the back left side on the rectangle.
|
|
 |
Now I could
glue to the piece at an angle on top of the cord and straws
(the wall is upside down in the photo) |
 |
|

Looking at the piece from the front you can better
understand what I was talking about :)
I used a decal, but if you wanted, you could add
another layer of cardboard or foamcore and cut out
the slits to have a real raised embossed rectangle. |

Now for some detailing. I added some colored wires
to the sides of the support beam.
You can see a good reference picture of this in
the Empire Strikes Back Movie Book. |

To detail the right side, like I did for wall number
3, I looked around my useless junk jars to find interesting
objects that would look like part of the ship.
I found little black buttons and the center piece
is from an old Nintendo cord that plugged into the
N64. Add more wires and then it looks cool. |

So here we have it... the finished wall number 4.
I added Han's Console in front of the left section
to better help you see how much it looks like the
movie :) |
|
 |
 |
|
December 26, 2001
I have put wall number 4 in it's place (I removed
wall number 3 to take the picture, now you see the
advantage of keeping walls 3 and 4 loose and not glued
to the main diorama).
Seeing it together like this for the first time
made me smile - hee hee.
|
|
 |
This is definately
my favourite display :) hmmm... don't I say that after each
new diorama - LOL. |
 |

Next step is putting the ceiling lights.
Looking at the movie picture as a guide, I poked
6 holes into the ceiling between the beams.
They are hard to see so I placed white arrows to
show you. |
|
 |
 |
December 26, 2001
Maybe from the top you get a better view of the holes.
I think Fingers believes Luke will make a nice snack
- LOL. |
|
 |

December 26, 2001
For several weeks I was trying to think what could
I used for the lamp fixtures? Then I had an idea...
You know those plastic tubes that supported the figures
in the Cinema Scenes?
They are PERFECT!!!
All I had to do is cut them to smae sizes. |
|
 |
 |
December 26, 2001
I stuck each tube into the holes making them extend
no more then 1/2 cm.
The clear plastic looks cool and when I stick the
lights inside the top they will light up perfectly
(I hope - LOL)

So here we have it so far.
The walls are done, Lights in place. All I have left
to do is the Neon light on the left side of the bench,
add some dirtyness to the walls using diluted paints
and put in the lights.
|
|
 |
Oh yeah, I forgot,
I also have to sculpt the accessories like crates, stools
and junk. That I will start tomorrow. Like Porkins said
... "Almost there, Almost there" :) |
