Here you can see how you want the pieces to be flush with each other.

Also a reminder, we are looking at the underside of the top level floor. So stand on your head if you want to see what it will look like in the real world - LOL.

June 24, 2002

These are supports so the platform doesn't get crushed.

All pieces are 3.5 cm in height X 9 cm Wide. Since they will be hidden and act as supports you can use scrap pieces not necessarely all 9 cm long.

June 24, 2002

Use the hot glue gun to attach all the supports along the surface.

You can also see the 2 flexible strips along the inner circle and the 2 single stair supports next to the edges.

June 24, 2002

Flip it right side up and we have an upper office level - well almost - LOL

June 24, 2002

Take your left side stair case and attach it to the main platform using the flexible strip on the sides and the bottom of the stair support.

The top piece of the support along with the upper level's floor act as the double thickness for the stairs.

Avoid attaching the staircase to the upper single stair support. Hmmm, this seems even confusing to me :)

Here is a picture from the bottom perspective.

I hope it helps you better understand what I was trying to explain in picture 035 :)

June 24, 2002

Cut out 2 identical 11.5 cm X 3.5 cm pieces for the side stairs support.

June 24, 2002

Use the hot glue gun to secure the shape to the end of the upper level.

Try and be as flush and aligned as you can with the top piece of foamcore.

Repeat for the other side.

June 24, 2002

Now we need to make the end stairs. These stairs are where the 2 statues keep guard duty.

Take a piece of foamcore and draw a line down the center of the piece. Take your cardboard guide and poke a hole in it 1.5 inches from the thumbtack.

Poke the tack along the center line and go for a spin. Draw 2 lines perpendicular to the center line at each extremity of the circle for about 7 inches.

Attach another piece of foamcore with Hot Glue before you cut along the lines. We want a double thickness. Repeat this procedure 2 times.

June 24, 2002

You should now have 2 pieces that look like this.

It doesn't matter if the ends don't match. We will be triming those off soon.

June 24, 2002

Lift the top level on top of one of the end stair bases.

Align the center line with the end of the top level edge and the hole (where you poked the thumbtack) should go on the corner.

Take a pencil and trace along the top level's base.

June 24, 2002

This is the pencil trace you should be seeing. I hope :)

Carefully cut along the line so that the end stair base will fit snug against the upper level's base.

Here I go confusing everbody again - LOL

June 24, 2002

Here is the cut out shape you want to have.

June 24, 2002

Place the two pieces snuggly against each other and you understand everything I was talking about :)

Now you can cut off the end tip following the outside angle of the floor.

June 24, 2002

The statue's base rests on this corner so we need to do a bit or renovations.

Stick your thumbtack right on the tip edge of the upper level. Poke a hole at 1 inch and let your pencil rotate around the thumbtack.
