Maybe a bit hard to see?

I now have a quarter circle edge that matches with the circle on the end stair base.

Take your Xacto blade and carefully cut alond the quarter circle.

Go straight down when you hit the walls.

Think of it like you are chipping off a piece of cheese :) Or better yet, cheese cake. mmmmmm.

June 24, 2002

With the end piece thrown away we are left with a big ugly hole. But do not panic...

June 24, 2002

I found that my spray paint lid was the perfect size and height. Just a bit of Sculpey later on and you won't be able to tell the difference.

Now you understancd why we had to chop off that end piece.

June 24, 2002

Here is a better view from the side.

The spary paint lid is not the "regular" size can but the car paint variety found at your local car shop or paint store.

Time for stair number 2.

Cut a double height 1/2 inch strip. On one end, trace the countour of the lid. This will align perfectly with the end stair base.

June 24, 2002

Once in place, you can trim the excess off the oposite end.

As you can see, the edges of the foamcore tore a bit but I will cover those up with putty later on.

June 24, 2002

Last step is to take a double thickness 1/2 inch strip.

As in the step above, place the lid on top to get the right angle and cut that off.

June 24, 2002

Use the Hot Glue Gun to attch all the pieces together and cut off any excess on the top stair.

June 24, 2002

Like magic, we have a complete end stair case. Pretty spiffy eh?

I LOVE it :)

Now all I have to do is make another MIRROR version for the other side.

June 24, 2002

Now that the stairs are made, Remember that "C" shape from Picture 016 on page 2 ?

Trace a copy and stack them together. Attach with Hot Glue.

This is your Hologram Base. Don't glue it to the floor just yet.

June 24, 2002

So here we have it. The floor space for Palpatine's Office. What do you think?

Next weekend I can tackle the walls and that ultra cool giant window. At that point it should really look like the film.

June 30, 2002

Let's make the center Hologram podium.

Cut out a rectangle shape 6.5 cm X 5.5 cm. Make a mark at 2.5 cm from the left top, and 2.5 cm from the right bottom.

Connect the 2 marks and draw a line. Use your Xacto blade to cut it.

Repeat this 4 times.

June 30, 2002

You should now have 8 pieces that look like this. These will be your spine support.

June 30, 2002

Time for another circle.

Measure 1.5 inches from your push pin and rotate marking with a pencil.

Use your Xacto blade to cut your circle.

Do you want to make your own Palpatine's Office Diorama at home?
