Take 4 of your spines and Hot Glue them in a X position.
Leave a small space in the center so they all stick
out the same amount. |

When the first 4 spines are secure, Hot Glue the
remaining 4 spines between each X spine.
The picture above is what it will look like when
all 8 spines are in place. |

We have to make a pattern for the wrap around.
Take a piece of paper and with some masking tape,
secure one of the corners to a spine. |
June 30, 2002
Tightly wrap the paper around the spine making a
cone. |
June 30, 2002
Use masking tape to secure the paper cone together.
You don't want it unwrapping. |
June 30, 2002
Use scissors to cut the tip off. Then cut closer
and closer to the top spine to get it flush. |
June 30, 2002
Do the same for the bottom of your cone. Scissors
work much better then Xacto. |

After cutting, you should have your "skin"
This is just your template.
Paper is too thin to be used for the final diorama. |

Cut the paper cone in a straight line so that you
can flatten it on a piece of cardboard. |
June 30, 2002
After tracing the paper onto the cardboard, use your
Xacto Blade and carefully cut along the pencil lines.
Be carefull cutting cardboard, you could use scissors
but try and avoid to make folds. |

Take your "C" shape base (on the left)
and you assembled spine base. |
June 30, 2002
Using a Hot Glue Gun, stick the 2 pieces together. |
June 30, 2002
Take your cardboard skin and carefully wrap it around
the spines.
Use Hot Glue Gun on each spine to make sure the cardboard
is nice and tight. You can also glue it together in
multiple passes. This avoids a mess if your Hot Glue
hardens before you have time to properly place the
wrap all the way around. |

Make another circle, this time 1 inch from your thumbtack.
After cutting the circle, use your blade and cut
around at an angle like in the picture. |

This is your Hologram base Top. It looks nicer angled
then square.
I might be using Super Sculpey later on to hide all
the cracks and seams. |
