Now the beams go on the side of the center supports at a 45' Angle.

So carefully trim the bases of each support. Do not cut both on the same side, you need to "mirror" your cut.

Go down to picture 110 and you will better understand what I am trying to say.

Now we need supports for our beams.

Start by cutting this shape. Start with a 3X3 cm square. Then make a 1 cm grid and you will find your cutting lines with ease.

We need to make 2 shapes for each support. 4 supports in all.

Here are the pieces we need. After spending 3 hours trying 4 different ways to make this shape look good, I came to the conclusion that cardboard woorks best.

Cut a rectangle shape 8 cm X 4.5 cm. From left to A measure 1 cm. A to B 2.5 cm. B to C 1 cm C to D 2.5 cm and D to the right another 1 cm.

Using Hot Glue, attach the carboard piece to the foamcore front.

Wait till it dries and then attach the same foamcore piece on the back end.

Make sure to have a clean flush surface.

Here you can better see what I was trying to explain about the 45' angle cuts in the supports being mirrored.

The dotted line is to show where the piece looked like before the cut.

Hot Glue the 2 supports to the base making sure that both are aligned with the back of the support and that the bottom is at 1 cm distance from the support bottom.

July 13, 2002

Next I cut a small piece to add strength and keep the 2 beams at the same distance top to bottom.

July 13, 2002

I used hot Glue to secure this piece in place.

And here we have our finished support beam.

Not only is it movie accurate, this also helps hide the craks between the Window Wall and the Side Walls.

When you finish making 4 support beams you can take a break and get a glass of water :)

Well palpatines office has a door, and it's time to create the entry way.

Start with a 59 cm X 19 cm piece of foamcore. From top measure 2 cm accross. Then another 4cm from the top.

From the left measure 6.5 cm up to the first 2 cm. Then from left measure 14 cm to the 4 cm line. Do the same from the right side. The curve is a 5 cm circle template.

July 13, 2002

The cool part about this piece is that there is no waste.

The cuts we just made give us the 3 pieces that make the entrance hallway.

July 13, 2002

I got a 4 cm poster tube from the local staples store and cut it to 17 cm.

July 13, 2002

make a long cut from top to bottom, you want to cut the tube in half.

July 13, 2002

Then take a half and cut that in 2 giving us a quarter of the tube.

Do you want to make your own Palpatine's Office Diorama at home?
