Now to add finesse to the window and wall.

Just as we did for the window, I cut a 36 inch X 14.5 cm (are you confused yet)

July 14, 2002

Again used my 5/5 cm circle and placed it aligned in the upper corners.

Now unlike the main window piece, this one we cut from the top circle angles all the way down to the bottom.

Now use the Xacto to cut at 1cm intervals so that the foamcore will bend.

You need to make 2 of these pieces because we need double thickness in the ledge.

July 14, 2002

Flip over your window, using Hot Glue again, apply the first piece all the way accross and then when cool, apply the second copy piece on top of the first one.

Make sure they are flush with the window top (at the bottom of the picture) and that an equal distance is all the way on the inside edges.

When we put our window proper side up, back against the diorama, we get the exact wall detail as in the movie set.

July 14, 2002

Since the window wall is now recessed by 1 cm we need to do the same to the side walls.

Take a pencil and trace along the stairs and floor of the elevated platform.

July 14, 2002

Take a very sharp Xacto blade and cut along the lines.

Make sure not to tear the base with a dull blade.

July 14, 2002

Sorry that this is a bit overexposed, but you can kind of make out that there is now a 1 cm gap from the edge of the platform to the wall resting place.

July 14, 2002

Do the same for the other side.

July 14, 2002

I noticed that there are similar podiums at the top of each stair as on the Statues bases.

Take the lid from a spraipaint can and place it dead center hanging over the first step from the top. Use a pencil and trace all around it.

July 14, 2002

Cut out the foamcore along the lines using a sharp blade.

Don't cut all the way through the lower steps. After 3 layers, stop.

This will help give the paint cap the correct height when in place.

July 14, 2002

Stick the cap into the hole and we have or bases in place.

July 14, 2002

Here we see the alignment of each paint cap.

Now I still have to add a layer of sculpet to them, but that will be a little later on after I complete the structure.

July 14, 2002

Now it's time for the ceiling.

You don't need one if you want your diorama to be a playset but I am going for movie accuracy :)

The ceiling consists of 3 layers... This is the first bottom layer.

I used the floor base of the diorama and then measured 7 cm towards the inside and cut the center out.

July 14, 2002

Since it was hard to see, I tinted the ceiling layer 1 with yellow color so that you could better see where it fits in relation to the base.
