I can now place my door back into it's original position.
If you make a clean cut at the beginning, it should
fit just perfectly and not even show that it is not
permanent. |

And TADA :D - I just LOVE this picture - hee hee.
I placed my sofas on each side and some Guards just
couldn't wait to take their positions :)
Now all that is left is to add the lamps on the sofas
and the entrance is just perfect. |

A great overhead view of the finished Palpatine Chair,
his Desk and the 4 Jedi chairs.
Now that they are completed, you can see that the
room is A LITTLE smaller then it should. I would estimate
maybe 80% scale accurate.
Maybe I should have strated with the furnitue - hee
hee. Still looks cool. |

October 07, 2002
No, this is NOT the bridge of the USS Enterprise
- LOL.
Well after more then 3 months, the Office is almost
completed. All that is left are some small details
like the wall lamp fixtures and the lamps on the Entrance
Sofas oh and Statue B. |

October 07, 2002
A closer view of the newly completed Jedi Chairs.
I borrowed Plo Koon from the jedi Council to take
the picture. He didn't seem to mind :D
Now I must make some sitting customs...And I thought
I was almost done - LOL. |

October 07, 2002
A rear view with the ceiling in place. As you can
see in the huge spotlight reflection in the city background,
the hardest part to take the finished pictures will
be how to light the room properly.
Maybe I can find miniature spotlights? |

October 07, 2002
A close up of the Chairs and Desk.
Once all the jedi are in place, it should look JUST
like in the movie.
Did I tell you i think this will be my fave diorama
I ever made ;p ( I know, I say that everytime I finish
a new scene LOL) |

Ok let's make a TIE Fighter - :D - Just kidding.
The final detail in the Office are the wall lamps.
Start with 2 panels 5cm X 1cm. Add a little curve
to the shape. Then cut a rectangle 1.5cm X 2.75cm.
Cut a groove from 1cm on each end so that you can
fold the cardboard without tearing it. |
|

November 09, 2002
I used Gluestick to attach the carboard wings to
the center in order to have more time before complete
bonding.
Apply the glue to the sides of the rectangle. NOT
on the oval wings.
Then press the wings onto the rectangle leaving a
small gap on the outer sides. This is where the lamp
will attach to the wall. |
|
 |
 |
|
November 09, 2002
Now when the glue has dried you can bend your center
rectangle to create the finished lampshade. |
|
 |
 |
November 09, 2002
Now I repeated the steps 6 times. 3 lampshades for
each side of the room. |
|
 |
 |
November 09, 2002
Painting is really simple.
I used the same colors as the main room. A Dark Grey
for the center and the Light Grey for the wing panels. |
|
 |
 |
November 09, 2002
I made a template on an old piece of foamcore so
that all the lamps would be at the same height. I
then traced the center and cut out a hole with a sharp
Xacto pointy blade.
Make sure NOT to rip the wall as you cut. You don't
wan't to ruin all the hard work you did so far ;p |
|
 |
 |
November 09, 2002
Now you can apply Hot Glue on each of the back supports
and press into place on the wall.
After about 5 seconds the lampshades are completed.
Now this looks cool but why not go one step further
:D |

November 09, 2002
Since I had some extra lighbulbs leftover I thought
I would do a test for the ceiling.
I wrapped the string of lights all the way around
where the top layer would fit over them.
Tecnically, the light should bounce from the ceiling
into the main room. |
|
 |
 |
November 09, 2002
I got out what's left of last years Mini Christmas
Lights and placed 2 in each hole.
I used masking tape to temporarely keep them in place.
I dont want to secure them with Hot Glue just yet.
Sure the outside looks like Bantha Poop but the inside.... |

November 09, 2002
WOO HOO!!!!! It works :)
Isn't this cool looking?
It always amazes me how lights improve a dioramas
realism. It's harder to light for a picture but in
real life with human eyes, it really makes a difference. |
|
 |
 |
November 09, 2002
I just have to remake the ceiling top a little taller
and wider so that the lightbulbs will be hidden when
you look up.
With Christmas coming up in 1 month, now is the perfect
time to buy a bunch of miniature lights. Of course
in january there will be LOTS of clearance sales too.
Forget the tree, think Dioramas :) heh heh. |
