Using my tools I added some creases into the shape to try and simulate cloth.

I placed my second rectangle on top of the smoothed out drape and along side the elbow.

Here you can better see what the positioning is.

Instead of wraping it to the front I just pinched it slightly to try and give it some folds.

November 10, 2002

I then used my tools to further deepen the folds and try to create a draperie effect.

It looks simple but I had a bit of a hard time with it.

November 10, 2002

This is what the figure looked like at this stage. Not that bad.

I just need one more piece to drape over the forearm. So I cut another little rectangle and...

...Placed it just on the edge of the third fold and blended it into the 3 layers.

I think I made it a bit too thick. it looks more like a blanket over his arm then a cape - LOL.

November 10, 2002

Here is a top view showing how the cloth layer flods in behind the arm.

I decided to fill in all the gaps because it will be easier to make a copy and mold then if it had all kinds of crevices.

November 10, 2002

Now that the capes are done (Even if I am not 100% happy with them) I next added a small snake shape to thicken the left side of the statue.

The addition is where the arrows are pointing. This adds a deeper groove between the body and the toothpick spear.

November 10, 2002

Of course now I must do the same to the other side :)

But now it looks much much better at the base. I also added some Super Sculpey behind the toothpick so that the mold will not get caught inside a tiny opening and be torn apart after the first casting.

November 10, 2002

Now the statue has a glove on his left hand so I used a small piece of Super Sculpey and wrapped it around the arm and then blended the side that was touching the hand.

Use the tools to blend the outside part to the arm (white arrow)

November 10, 2002

The rear of the cape looked a little flat so I added a small extra layer to raise it a bit higher.

November 10, 2002

Here is a great view of how the added piece flows into the front of the figure.

I also filled out the gap between the chest and the arms so that the silicone would not get stuck in there during molding.

Last step is his helmet.

Man this is HARD to make. I spent almost 1 hour and gave up. It's almost 1:30 am and time for bed. We'll have to continue later in the week...

December 07, 2002

I did however do a little variation.

Since I am going to be making a mold, I didn't want to do Injection Positives, so I left a gap between the helmet and the glove.

This way I will be able to pour the Resin into the base and make my New Positive.

A lot easier, and when you look at the sculpt from the top, it doesn't really make that much a difference.

Finally after 5 hours I have a finished Helmet.

The crazy thing is that I started one from scratch and after about 2 hours, it was TOO big :(

I trashed that one and then TOO big again. AHHHH.

Finally I took the original ugly helmet and added little pieces of Sculpy to smooth out and give the proper shape.
