This is where your pieces should fit.
The upper dorsal piece is longer then the chair height
because it is wrapped over the chair top towards the
back.
You will trim the excess later. |

And here is the final result we're looking for.
I used my flat knife to make indentations into the
Super Sculpey making sure to start in the center and
work my way outwards.
You want to try and have evenly spaced grooves. Pretty
cool eh? |

We must have a base for the chair, so start with
a flat circle a little bit larger then a quarter.
Now heat the circle so that it will not distort
when adding the other pieces. |

Now roll another snake. |

Stick one piece of the snake upwards in the center
and then wrap another piece of the snake around the
center post. |

Use your fingers and smooth out the 2 snakes to create
one Super Sculpey piece. |

Take the left over snake, or roll another if you
don't have enough, and wrap it around the bottom edge
of the base. |

Now blend and try to shape the snake into the shape
in the picture.
These pieces I find are the hardest to make. Would
work better in a machine shop and made of wood.
I am still not happy with this, I might fix it before
molding the chair. Maybe just a little sanding would
work out fine. |

And our chair placed on the base. Just like in the
movie don't you think? :)
Not bad for about 5 hours work - Hee hee.
Since I will be molding the chair I have not secured
the base to the chair. I will do that when I cast
the new positive from the mold. |

Side by side, on the left the Hasbro Palpatine Throne
from Jedi Duel Cinema Scene and on the right, my little
creation.
Note the subtle differences George Lucas made in
the design.
The Episode 2 throne doesn't have the curved overhang
on the Jedi counterpart and it a bit more angular
in the front. |
