Here is the cable wire I used. It can be found at any radio Shack for under 5 bucks. It doesn't have the ridges of the set tubes, but works just as well.

April 13, 2001

Cut the wire to proper length and then place hot glue all around the outside of the seperators. Then carefully place the wire along the edges.

April 13, 2001

As we can see, the wire hides all the gaps between the seperator and the divider. And the walkway will hide the wire cuts. Now all that is left is to make 3 more - ARGHHHH - LOL

April 13, 2001

Just for fun, I stuck some straws inside the holes to see what that looks like.

Here is another angle of where we are now. pretty cool eh? Remember also that we have yet to hide theexposed white foamcore. So that should help a lot in the final illusion.

April 14, 2001

For the floor of the diorama, like the Death Star, I glued (using a glue stick this time) a black binder to the foamcore. these binders can be found at ANY office supply store I am sure. Just cut it to fit the foamcore base and apply.

April 14, 2001

This is for the back wall of the diorama. I took the Pod Door decal and turned it sideways. Then I cut out the circular door from another printout of the same decal and glued it next to the red light.

April 14, 2001

Here you can see where the modified pod Door decal is placed. I hot glue gunned the boad to the other 2 pieces of foamcore to create a 3 wall unit.

April 14, 2001

Next I applied 4 printouts of the Pod Doors Walls to the main base. The white gaps between the decals are where the divisions will be attched.

April 14, 2001

Nothing is glued in place yet, I just wanted to see and show you where all the pieces fit together and get an idea of the general layout of the final diorama layout.

April 14, 2001

This is what the view looks like peeking in through the 4 divisions. Note that the seperators in the last 3 divisions are not in place. it's time to finish those next.

April 14, 2001

After about 4 hours, I have completed all 4 divisions. Well almost completed - LOL - I have yet to color in the exposed white foamcore. I will do that before gluing them to the base.

April 14, 2001

OK, So I wanted to see what the final divisions looked like in proportion to the figures that will inhabit this diorama. In this case, Princess Leia and R2

April 14, 2001

One last peak with the seperators in place :) A couple of more steps including the floor catwalk and floor grid and some straws and we should have another fine niubniub diorama - heh heh.

April 22, 2001

Hot Glue Gun the 3 floor pieces together then turn it on its backside. Cut small thinner strips of foamcore to lift and support the floor and Hot Glue Gun those to the back's center.

Do you want to make your own Princess Leia's Plans Diorama at home?
