Print the Spine Download Textures and cut them with an exacto knife or scissors if you prefer.

April 22, 2001

Apply the Spine Printouts to the sides of the floor. Here we can also better see the foamcore strips we glued to the bottom to raise the floor in the diorama.

April 22, 2001

Slip the floor between each seperator making sure not to tear any of the decals we aplied earlier.

April 22, 2001

Once the seperators are at the proper distance, Use Hot Glue to fix them in place so that it adds stability to the diorama and will prevent the divisions from tipping over and tearing the floor in half.

Time to paint the straws. I used a grey spray primer and then silver car paint in a spray can. Once dry, as you can see, it really looks like metal rods. Sooo Cool :)

April 22, 2001

Cut the straws the correct length and slide the straws through the holes into place. You can use glue but it is not needed since the holes are a nice tight fit and will prevent them from falling out.

April 22, 2001

Here is another angle of the straws and we can better see the raise in the floor.

Next, Print and glue the grid floor to some foamcore. Then cut the excess foamcore away. This will give you super clean edges. Now the piece is too long to fit on the floors side, so I cut the correct length.

April 22, 2001

Same technique as we did on the floor, Turn the grids to their undersides and Hot Glue Gun small foamcore strips to allow the grid to be raised as well.

April 22, 2001

Now place the grids to make sure they fit and then glue them in place to prevent them from slipping out of place. Though you can leave them loose if you prefer.

April 22, 2001

Now time to make more gridfloors for the back of the hallway. Same procedure...Print, Apply, Cut the foamcore and apply the spine decals to the sides of the grids.

April 22, 2001

Again, raise the platforms by with small strips of foamcore and Hot Glue them into place.

April 22, 2001

Next we place the grids in the center of the divisions. These grids lead to the escape pod doors. I Hot Glued my grids to the base but you don't have to to that if you wantto move them around.

April 22, 2001

One more pipe - oops straw - LOL - is left to place. Put a dab of glue to the end of the straw and a little on the side of the floor to prevent the straw from tipping over.

Well this is how far I got this weekend. My friend thought it was the movie set when I showed him the picture - Heh heh. What do you think? I really love it. but we are not quite finished yet.
