What tools do I use to create my dioramas?
Well here you will finally get to see pictures to match the words you have been reading the past year :)
Most if not all this stuff is available in your own area I am sure.

SUPER SCULPEY
This is my fave material for sculpting. It is hard enough not to loose its shape with the heat of your fingers and keeps great detail. It hardens with heat. Oven, Hot Air Gun or I have been told even water.

SCULTING TOOLS
These are my Sculpey tools. they all came in 1 bag for about $7.00. Not the best quality, but they do the trick.

X-ACTO KNIFE
The perfect tool to cut Foamcore. I use the wide blades for most of the cuts and the pointy knife for details. Remember to stock up on blades as Foamcore dulls them after 5-7 cuts.

ACRYLIC PAINT
These are great to paint your custom work and dry within 5 minutes. They are water based and wash off your hands and brushes with water. A good thing :) There are tons of colours that match Hasbro figures and only cost $3.00 a tube

PAINT BRUSHES
A good thing to have is a variety of brushes. Cheap dollar store brushes are great to cover surfaces. It is good to invest in at least 1 fine brush to allow you details. Foam brushes are good for a weathered look on rough textures.

METALIC CAR PAINT
If you want the look of shiny metal there is nothing better then metalic color car paint. Use a primer first then any color you fancy. Even Gold!!! Just like on hasbro's C-3P0. Do not overspray porous material as it can warp.

HOT GLUE GUN
Thank you Rosie O'Donnell for introducing me to the greatest invention made for making dioramas :) The best tool to bond Foamcore together. Squeeze the handle and in 10 seconds, the heat melts the 2 Foamcore pieces together as the glue renders the pieces inseperable. Do be carefull with the excess glue drippings though, I have gotten more then my share of burn scars in the process.

FOAMCORE
The material of choice for architecs and maquette builders. it is lightweight and easy to cut with X-Acto knives. Basically it is a sheet of styrofoam covered on both sides with a sheet of paper. Available in many colors and sizes. Shop around for pricing as some stores really try and rip you off.

PAINT STRIP HEAT GUN
This trusty item can be found at any hardware store and works better then a hair dryer. Do not aim it at your skin cause you can get severe burns in less then 5 seconds. I use this to harden my Sculpey when customising a figure. Wave the heat back and forth for 30 seconds and the Sculpey gets cured. Make sure to wiggle the heat or your figure will melt, trust me on this one - LOL.

PLASTER BANDAGES
If you want to make Tatooine housing, this is a must have. Plaster does not stick to Foamcore. Applying these bandages to the foamcore shapes first creates a surface that will absorb and bond the Plaster of paris. These are the same strips doctors make casts for a broken bone. can be found at medical or Art Supplies Stores.
XX
WIRE SCREEN MESH
I discovered this at the Art Store. If you are making mountains, cliffs or rocky surfaces, Nothing is easier then scrunching up wire mesh into the shape you want. Then use plaster bandages to cover the entire surface and finish off with Plaster Of Paris.

STRAWS AND WIRES
Straws are perfect for making metal poles or electrical tubing that run along the walls of certain buildings. For steele poles, they are easily painted using chrome car paint. Stereo cables are another great tool for tubing or detail accessories like in the Hoth Base for example.
